Natural Latex

Natural latex is a white sap extracted from the rubber tree (Hevea Brasilienesis). A thin layer of bark is stripped off the tree to extract latex sap and the sap is then collected in cups. Each rubber tree weeps approximately 15 grams of latex daily. Latex liquid is whipped with air to create a foam that's poured into a mould to form a mattress.

Health

Our mattresses are made using 100% natural latex and are totally free from toxic and harmful chemicals. Natural latex has anti-microbial, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. No fungus, bacteria, dust mite or any other unhealthy organism can live inside a latex mattress.

Breathability

The milky-white sap is poured into moulds to form mattresses, which gives the mattresses an open cell structure that allows optimal breathability and airflow. The structure of our natural latex mattresses also results in a cool and comfortable nap for your baby.

Environmentally friendly

The average CO² emission per person per year in Australia and the United States is approximately 20 tons, which causes global warming. The natural latex tree is among the most ecological trees in the world. A single Hevea tree absorbs about 1.8 tons of CO² in its lifetime. Globally, all latex plantations together offset 90 million tons of CO² per year.

Natural latex is a recyclable material. The mattress can be ripped into smaller pieces and added to the compost pile, the garden bed or into flower pots when you want to dispose of the mattress.

Organic certification

Our natural latex is certificated organic by the Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS) which means that the entire process is monitored to meet stringent standards. Furthermore, the certification requires fair working conditions throughout the entire production process which is important to us. Head over to our page The baby nest for more information about GOLS and to view our certifications.
