Swaddle Safety
Swaddling can be a beautiful way to help your newborn feel calm and secure — but it’s important to swaddle safely.
Always place your baby on their back to sleep.
Ensure the swaddle is snug across the chest but loose around the hips — legs should be free to move and bend naturally.
Do not overheat. Use lightweight, breathable fabrics and dress your baby appropriately underneath.
Stop swaddling as soon as your baby shows signs of rolling over (typically around 2–4 months).
Never use a swaddle in a car seat, swing, or any product with straps.
If your baby looks uncomfortable or shows signs of rolling, it’s time to stop swaddling. Always follow your healthcare provider’s guidance for safe swaddling and sleep practices.
Care Note – Pram Use
When using your swaddle as a pram shade, always ensure there is adequate airflow. Drape loosely to allow ventilation and avoid covering the entire pram or restricting airflow around your baby.
Check regularly to make sure your baby is cool, comfortable and visible. Overheating can be dangerous — especially in warmer weather or enclosed spaces.
